about

The last thing I did before the pandemic changed our lives was perform one of my scheduled St. Paddy's Day gigs. I had just invested in some new gear, and was excited about finally turning my Irish pub sessions into something real … and then, POOF.

So, to mark a year of this hellscape, I decided to record a few songs from my Irish music set. For this first volume, I've kept it to Irish Rebel Songs and Protest Songs, which fit the mood of the world (and a post-Brexit Ireland in particular). I also recruited a few friends to help me from a distance: Jacqui Cheng, Paula Arzac, Jacob Wilkenfeld-Mongillo, and Nick Krefting.

My plan is to continue the "Forfocséic" series with new themed EPs of Irish music released at least once a year. Hopefully, by that time, everyone will be able to sing along at the pub with me, but we'll see.

Thom Dunn Boston, Massachusetts

Thom Dunn is a Boston-based writer, musician, & new media artist. He enjoys Oxford commas, metaphysics, and romantic clichés (especially when they involve whiskey), and he firmly believes that Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" is the single greatest atrocity committed against mankind.
